About the Instructor
Mike Moran has been a member of the Associate Faculty of the Mathematics
Department
at Shoreline Community College since Fall Quarter 1998.
Mike was born in Spokane, Washington where he attended Gonzaga High School.
He then attended Seattle University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Math.
He went on to the University of Idaho as a graduate teaching assistant.
He taught college level math classes while earning a Master of Science Degree in Mathematics.
He accepted a management position at Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone
Company, the Seattle affiliate of AT&T. He remained with that company and
it's successors for 31 years before taking early retirement. His
management experience includes supervising large technical work groups,
supervising the tax activities of the corporation, directing product managers in
pricing products and services, and coordinating the activities of the
corporation with state regulatory commissions.
During is business career, Mike earned a Masters of Business Administration
attending evening classes at Seattle University. He also passed the
examination to be a Certified Public Accountant.
Immediately following his retirement, he enrolled in Antioch
University of Seattle, and received secondary school, Washington State teachers
certification. As part of this program, he taught one quarter of Math at
Cleveland High School in Seattle.
Mike and his wife, Kristina, have five grown children, ten grandchildren
and two basset hounds.
